Psychological assessment

We offer a two-session assessment service where we will meet with the young person and the family to talk about the issues that are affecting them. Often we spend some time with the child or young person alone and some time with the parent or carer alone as well as time together. We will ask you to fill in some questionnaires before we meet to help us to gather information and to provide a baseline of how the issues are affecting you. At the end of the assessment we aim to have created a shared psychological understanding of the difficulty, how it might have developed, what is preventing it from changing and what might help to create improvement. We use our knowledge of child development to ensure we remain sensitive to the child’s individual needs.
